Wizard of Evesham

Agatha Raisin. I’ve seen her on the telly without realising she’s the main character in a book series by M.C. Beaton. The TV series is a bit silly, and strangely amusing. That’s why I grabbed the novel off the library shelf some weeks ago, i.e. in the hopes of the written original being equally amusing as the TV version, and perhaps slightly less silly.

But I have to confess… I prefer the televised Agatha, mainly because she’s not obsessed with her looks and her age and men. That sort of thing tends to bore your pants off in the end.

Right. The Wizard of Evesham. Who is he? A hairdresser. A really good one. And a really bad man.

By the way, I’m amazed that Agatha keeps her hair on as long as she does, what with her frequent visits to the salon an’ all. All those people constantly shampooing, rinsing, combing, blow-drying, dyeing and spraying her hair? Think of the wear and tear!
